SUPREME BAMBOO PRODUCTS’ INFORMATION

Environmental Benefits

Bamboo is a renewable resource. Bamboo grows to a height of 12 meters with a diameter sometimes exceeding 15 cm and matures in 4-5 years. The root system sprouts a new shoot following the rainy season. If Bamboo stalks are not cut, they die due to natural causes shortly after they are fully grown. Therefore cutting Bamboo does not damage the forests resources. In fact, cutting promotes good regrowth.

Bamboo Characteristics

Studies have shown Bamboo to be 27% harder than Oak, and 13% harder than Maple.  Bamboo is also 50% more stable than Oak, and 250% more stable than Maple. These studies confirm Bamboo's superior durability to traditional hardwood flooring.

The vertical nature of the Bamboo fibres creates alignment with the vertical method of processing. Traditional hardwood fibres are circular in nature and it is this difference that reduces the susceptibility to water absorption of Bamboo compared with other hardwood flooring. During processing, bamboo is steamed and dried to reach optimum moisture levels, preventing curving and mildew after installation.

The Compressed Bamboo (Strand Woven Bamboo) flooring is an extremely dense hardened product that has a beautiful natural timber appearance. Our Compressed floorboards are manufacturing using a strong presser of 12 mpa and will not be marked or dented easily even when under extreme pressure.

Quality Assurance

Bamboo flooring has different levels of quality, depending on materials and manufacturing techniques utilized. Poor raw material, inferior adhesives and machinery, and a low standard of manufacturing procedures will produce troublesome bamboo flooring.

We import directly from the well-established and leading bamboo flooring manufacturer in China. Our bamboo supplier is in a joint venture with a Germany Company that is the biggest buyer of bamboo products.

Finest Raw Bamboo Material

Our manufacturer has its own bamboo plantation from which has only the highest quality raw material is harvested. The hairy bamboo harvested is widespread in the North and South regions of China and is not the type consumed by Pandas.

Only Bamboo harvested in winter or before the rainy season has the appropriate strength and hardness for use in flooring. It is during this time of the year that we increase our bamboo stock. Bamboo cut in spring or after the rainy season has a rapid growth rate that reduces hardness and stability.

Modern Equipment

High performance moulding, sanding and finishing machines are imported from Germany to ensure top quality. Our factory uses 10 mpa to 20 mpa compressors (1000 to 2000 tonne). The technologically advanced machinery allows manufacturing of perfectly laminated horizontal and vertical bamboo boards. The heavy tonnage ensures high density and hardness of the compressed bamboo boards.

“Green” Adhesive and Paint

We only use high quality laminate adhesive with low formaldehyde emissions - this “green” adhesive is supplied by AKZO NOBEL CASCO. The European Standard for the formaldehyde emission is about 0.13 ppm, while IAQ guidelines is 0.10 ppm, however, our Supreme Bamboo® products have the lowest emission rate of 0.0127ppm which is well below the international standard. The varnish used is water base polyurethane; Bona imported from Sweden and Klumpp imported from Germany. This is to ensure international standards are met and consistent quality product performance is maintained.
